Games Queens

The first event of the 2008 Festival Week took place at at Morebattle Church on Sunday 27th July with the sashing of the new Games Queen Jenifer Cessford who takes over from previous queen Sophie Fenwick

 As this was the first time the sashing has taken place in the village church past and present Games Queens were invited to attend to mark the occasion.

On Saturday the 2nd August the annual Festival Week football tournament was held at the school playfield.  Although the weather was mixed there were 32 players split into two age groups with winners and runners-up receiving medals.

Sunday the 3rd August should have been the Festival Week Family day but with heavy rain showers in the morning and continuous rain for sometime before the scheduled start time it was decided to cancel the event for this year.  Puddle dancing as demonstrated by Sasha is the only sports that took place.

On Monday the 4th there was a Coffee Evening in the Village Hall followed by a Quiz in the Temple Hall lounge, both events were well attended.On Tuesday the 5th August there was an exhibition by the Camera Club in the afternoon and evening and a demonstration by the Rag Bag Morris dancers in the pub car park.

Wednesday the 6th saw the Whist and Domino competition in the Village Hall which was also well attend with a supper to follow.  On Thursday the 7th there was the Teddy Bears Picnic and a Treasure Hunt for the older children in the afternoon and the Pet Show in the evening which had a good all-round attendance considering the wet conditions.   There was also the Pool Competition in the Pub later in the evening.

The final day Friday the 8th August event was the Fancy Dress held behind the school. There was good entries in all categories making it difficult for the judges but the overall winner was the Wedding Party.

Following the judging the procession led by the pipe band moved through the village to the Templehall for the presentations.
